Sphere light

Working without a certain purpose or plan in mind is one of the things I love the most about designing. For this project I went into the workshop to make some wooden spheres, not sure what to do with those later on. I wanted to learn the technique and explore the qualities of wood and the tools. After finishing the spheres, I decided to make a light object out of it with the theme of re-shaping. After re-shaping the wood I now wanted to re-shape the directions of the light. Therefore I drilled multiple holes through the sphere to direct the light in different directions.

The outcome was different than I anticipated, there were quite some imperfections. But after taking it into the photostudio I saw that especially the imperfections were bringing character into the object. The visible drilling in the wood showed the quality and fragility of the material, which i really like.
